The latest statistics show that over four million people are now working at home because of all the benefits of owning a home based business. Whether you are working a full time job, a part time job or currently out of work, now is the best time to work from home. Many people are tired of the rat race and are opting for a chance to spend more time with their families and become more involved in their children’s lives. You may think that working from home is risky and not a very reliable income, but here are a few reasons why you should rethink that and start your home based business today.

One of the most appealing reasons to consider a work from home career is the tax advantages. Using your home as your business comes with a variety of tax advantages. You have the ability to deduct a portion of your business operating expenses and the depreciation of any equipment that you are using in your home office. In addition you are able to deduct a portion of your mortgage, insurance, utilities, property taxes and expenses for repairs, or home improvements. If you are using your vehicle for work, you can also deduct a portion of the maintenance, gas and auto insurance. It is always best to contact an accountant before you assume which deductibles will work in your favor.

The most appealing reason why most people begin a home based business is for the chance to strike it big. Money has always been a very popular reason why people leave a reliable job and dive head first into a home business. You gain total control of your life and you can set your own goals and create the work environment that is ideal for you to reach those goals. Without having to follow the demands of a boss is very appealing to some people, but be prepared to put in long hours and push yourself because you are now the boss. You need to discipline yourself for success in order to succeed in a home business.

Many people jump at the chance to work from home because of all the stress they have from their job. You set your office up the way you like, work when you are at your peak, make and return calls when you set time to do that. If you are a morning person you can get working at 6am and by 9am when most people are getting to work, you had a three hour head start. You work at your pace and take breaks when you need to. The trend toward starting a home based business is being recognized from the bottom of the company ladder to the top. Many executives are leaving top paying jobs to become part of the work from home force.
